Priority area
South Coast ports — Solent, Sussex and Dorset
The South Coast is Port Pallets' commercial priority area. Between Poole and Newhaven the coastline carries an unusually varied set of port operations in a short distance: a deep-sea container and vehicle port at Southampton, a municipally owned ferry and produce port at Portsmouth, a trust port inside a natural harbour at Poole, a bulk and timber port at Shoreham, and a cross-Channel gateway at Newhaven. That variety means the businesses around them need very different pallet specifications, often within a few miles of each other.
Request a quoteWhat drives pallet demand here
- Container devanning and cross-docking operators along the M27 corridor are a regular source of pallet demand.
- Produce, chilled and seafood handling around Portsmouth and Poole raises hygiene-driven questions about plastic alternatives to timber.
- Shoreham's timber, steel and aggregate trades create demand for bearers and dunnage rather than pool pallets.
- Freight forwarders and customs agents across the Solent frequently need short-notice replacement pallets for reworked export loads.
- Because the five ports are close together, deliveries and used pallet collections can often be routed efficiently across several sites.
